Officers cannot touch alcohol, and that changes your staffing plan

Louisiana prohibits a licensed security officer from selling, dispensing or handling alcoholic beverages while on duty or in uniform. That single rule reshapes a lot of event plans: your officer cannot check IDs at the bar as a bartender's second pair of hands, cannot carry drinks, cannot run the drink-ticket table.

They can control entry, verify age at the gate as an access-control function, watch the bar line, and remove someone who is over-served. Getting that boundary right in advance is the difference between a plan that works and one that gets rewritten at 8pm on the night.

The post map is the deliverable, and it happens weeks early

Before a large event we build a post map with you: entrances, stages, vendor rows, back-of-house, lots, load-out routes, and a named responsibility for each position. Then a radio plan agreed with the venue and with any law-enforcement detail on site, because a police detail and a private security contractor are two different things and the handoff between them is where events fail.

Festival-season weekends in Louisiana book out. Every officer in the region is committed to the same handful of dates, so a Jazz Fest or Festival International weekend needs six to eight weeks. A private event of a few hundred people can often be staffed inside 48 hours. Those are different questions and we will tell you which one you are asking.

Public street, private property

Officers work private property: the venue, the lot, the entrance, the leased footprint. Crowd control on a public right-of-way, a parade route or a street closure is a police function. A company that offers to run your parade route is either misunderstanding the law or hoping you do.

Where a public event runs past private businesses, we work the private side, the doors, the frontages, the lots, and coordinate with the detail rather than pretending to replace it.
